Description

About Sic Heating Elements

The SiC electric heating element is mainly made of high quality green silicon carbide, it’s a kind of tubular and non-metallic high temperature Electric Heating Element produced by processing of making semi-finished product, high-temperature silicification, re-crystallization. Compared to metal electric heating elements, it has advantages of high working temperature, anti-oxidation, corrosion resistance, long service life, little deformation, easy installation and maintaining etc. So Sic electric heating element is widely used in high temperature furnaces and other electric heating equipment of magnetic materials, powder metallurgy, ceramics, glass, metallurgy, machinery and other industries.

Our Sic heating element adopt the most advanced production technology for the cold end , it has the advantages of quality of hot-cold end resistance ratio, energy saving, long service life, and avoiding the damage to the furnace body due to high temperature of cold end.

Oxidation of Resistance of Sic Heating Elements

SiC heating element begins to oxidize in the air when the temperature goes to 800 ℃, there will be a SiO2 protective film generated on the surface when it reaches to 100-1200 ℃, crystallizing cristobalite at 1200 ℃,the protection film reaches a certain thickness at 1400 ℃,and then the rate of oxidation element becomes extremely slow and steady. It will result in the damages to the protective film, increasing the rate of oxidation and premature failure of components if it continues to heat up to 1527 ℃ or above .
The Oxidation of Silicon Carbide Heating Elements is extremely slow during working , but it will still lead to increasing resistance for long time working, this is called aging of the element.

How SiC element pricing works

SiC elements are cut to order, so the unit price depends on four things: element type (ED straight, U-type, or double-spiral), diameter, heated length, and order quantity — larger batches lower the per-piece cost. The listed price is a reference for the stated size; send your drawing or dimensions and operating atmosphere and we will quote the exact configuration.

Frequently asked questions

What temperature can a SiC heating element reach?

Standard ED and U-type silicon carbide elements run with an element surface temperature up to about 1450°C (furnace chamber around 1400°C); recrystallized grades push a little higher. Above roughly 1500°C in clean air, MoSi2 elements are the better choice.

Can SiC heating elements be used in nitrogen or hydrogen atmospheres?

Yes, but stay within the grade’s limit — near the top of its temperature range SiC can nitride or react with hydrogen. For nitrogen- or hydrogen-rich furnaces, confirm the safe operating window before specifying.

How do I read an SiC element’s dimension code?

For straight elements the numbers are diameter / hot-zone length / cold-end length in mm (for example 14/130/105). U-type elements add the leg span and leg length. Match the cold-end length to your furnace wall thickness plus terminal hardware.

What furnace types use SiC heating elements?

They are common in tube furnaces, box and muffle furnaces, ceramic kilns, glass lehrs, and heat-treatment or sintering furnaces — anywhere a clean 1200–1400°C chamber is needed.

How is the price of a custom SiC element calculated?

Price depends on element type (ED straight, U-type, or double-spiral), diameter, heated length, and order quantity — larger batches lower the unit cost. Send your dimensions and atmosphere for a quote; we cut to spec.
