Multi-Shank MoSi2 Elements
Multi-Shank Heater of molybdenum disilicide MoSi2 Heating Elements
The four-shank MoSi2 heating elements are manufactured of high-density molybdenum disilicide. The four shank element must be supported therefore the maximum element temperature is 1800 deg C. It can be supported from beneath or stapled to high-temperature fiberboard and installed on the wall or roof of the furnace.
The MoSi2 heating elements terminal ends account for a considerable amount of the energy lost and the cost of the element. The four shank and other multi-shank elements are therefore more energy efficient and cost less. The multi-shank elements are available in all Standard diameters and terminal and hot section bends.

What is a multi-shank MoSi2 heating element?
A multi-shank MoSi2 element has more than two terminal shanks, commonly four, manufactured from high-density molybdenum disilicide and supported from beneath or mounted on the furnace wall or roof.
Why are multi-shank elements more efficient?
The terminal ends account for a large share of the energy lost and the cost of a standard element; spreading the connection across multiple shanks reduces terminal losses, improving efficiency and lowering cost.
What is the maximum temperature of a four-shank MoSi2 element?
Because a four-shank element must be supported, its maximum element temperature is 1800°C.
Are multi-shank elements available in standard sizes?
Yes. Multi-shank elements are available in all standard diameters with terminal and hot-section bends to match the furnace drawing.
