Powder metallurgy, MIM debinding-and-sintering, and heat treatment push elements into protective or reactive atmospheres and aggressive off-gassing. The element has to deliver clean, uniform heat while surviving the gas and the residue.

Two failure modes specific to metallurgy

  • Contamination. Binders, lubricants and dewaxing off-gas coat elements. Keep 50 mm clearance and vent; replace individually using the replacement guide.
  • Atmosphere attack. Hydrogen and vacuum strip the protective silica and can embrittle MoSi2. Stay within the limits in the atmosphere guide.

Tube and pusher furnaces

Summary
