Ceramic Sintering: Matching Element Grade to Material

One temperature does not fit all ceramics

Zirconia, alumina, silicon carbide and silicon nitride each sinter in a different temperature window, and the right element grade follows directly from that window. Specifying for the highest possible temperature wastes money; specifying too low leaves you unable to reach soak. Match the grade to the material you actually fire.

Why MoSi2 for ceramics

Ceramic sintering needs a clean, stable, contaminant-free heat. MoSi2 hot zones do not outgas at temperature and keep a tight, uniform profile across long soaks — exactly what a densifying ceramic needs.
